Stayed in Glenn Innes last night in the Fosickers Caravan Park. Very nice place – in town but very quite.
Spoke to the lady at the Information centre and she suggested that we take a look at the oldest cork tree in Australia. Planted By Edward Parker in 1851. They say if you walk around the tree three times that your wish will come true, but there is a fence around it, so I guess that all the wishes have been given out.
We then took the Mt. Lindsay Rd, just north of town to the Thunderbolt’s Hideout and the World War 2 Tank traps. Frederic Ward was better known as Captain Thunderbolt ( 1836 to 1870 ) he has escaped from prison and was out in the caves around Tenderfield district. He was eventually shot .
The Tank traps were set up so that if the Japanese tank got this far that the would have to come through a tight squeeze and would be all destroyed .
We were then off to Boongo Boongo Nation Park to see the water falls, and then on to Bald Rock National Park where we went for a 5 Km walk up to the rock and back down the face of the rock.
It is 1100 meters from the start at the parking area to the top of the rock. What a fantastic site. This was a half day bush trip. The sounds of the bush are fantastic, caused by bugs and birds. Also saw a couple wallabies today. Have to suspend the wallaby count - seen to many now, but just one that would pose for the camera.

Can not upload the photos so will send try again tomorrow to send them.
