Bondi to Googee Walk.

Last full day in Sydney . We decided to take the bus to Bondi and do the walk. Weather still not very accommodating. Was cloudy but warm when we caught the bus at Hyde Park and on arrival at Bondi it has started to rain - fine misty rain that eventually stopped about one hour into the walk - the beaches are beautiful and due to the weather there was not many people swimming or surfing. The walk out to Coogee was very nice, the walk for most of the way is either paved or boardwalk. Saw some beautiful birds and flowers along the way, the sandstone is eroded into some fantastic shapes.The return from Bondi to Coogee was not as pleasant as the trip out. It had started to rain and blow . We decided to walk all the way back even though the weather was not so good, and ended up back at Bondi looking like to drowned rats. Total 12 miles to walk both ways. We then took the bus back to the city .Must say that we still had a good day, seen some beautiful beaches, birds and flowers. Tomorrow we go to pick up the camper van and will drive to Newcastle. The weather person has said that it is going to be sunny. Will see what tomorrow brings.

Sydney

December11,2008.

We got a bit of a shock last evening when a guest at the hotel was given the door key to our room. I was sitting at the desk working on the computer and Donna was watching the TV, when the door opened, and at that time the person realized that he had been given the wrong room key. The Assistant Manager explained the mix up this morning and apologized.

Got up early and left the hotel to walk through Hyde Park, the Botanical Gardens to the Opera House and the Rocks area of Sydney. The weather has not be very accommodating. this morning it was a bit foggy and we had a light rain. Not very good for picture taking. Took lots anyway as will probably not have a chance when we are back prior to departure.

The park and the Opera House are lovely and the view from the Opera House are is magnificent.

Estimated that we walked about 18 miles today form the time we left until we returned in the late afternoon.

Tomorrow we plan to take the bus to Bondi Beach, but again the weather is not going to be good, but not complaining , was wearing sandals and a light jacket to keep the rain off and in the late morning the rain stopped, although the sun did not come out it was warm.

Sydney is a very beautiful city, with a mixture of old and new architecture.

Arrived Sydney

We finally arrived in Sydney after a very long flight from Vancouver . Will not do that again , will suffer the through US customs and several stop overs. The flight was packed. Will not comment on the food.

The weather in Sydney is overcast with light rain, but we were walking around in shorts , sleeveless tops and sandals by the late afternoon of our arrival. NO SNOW OR COLD WEATHER.

Second day and we are up early and plan to take some photos and will post with my blog this evening.
