Getting ready for the trip.

Have finally got our visas for Australia - good for a year from the date acquired but can just stay for three months at a time. It is possible to get an extension while in Australia if one would like to stay longer.

Have all our other insurances in place - Travel insurance, health, lost luggage ( which we hope does not happen) and other insurance that one needs when travelling.
Also make sure that all our immunizations were up to date and that we had had our flu shots, that is I had them all, Jim does not get a flu shot because he has an allergic reaction to it.

Have all the cables, cord, converters and bits and pieces that one need to run the computer, charge the batteries and download the photos from the camera to the computer.

Have downloaded all the family history information and photos to the computer that I intend to take along with us. Also have a 250GB hard drive to take along to download information and a couple of 8GB data travellers to use for special projects, so should have every thing covered.

Sound like I am a walking computer shop, but it will all fit into the computer bag.

Have made all my lists - so hopefully I will not forget anything. The last time we travelled , checked all the lists several times and when we got to New Zealand realized that I had not taken the keys to the suitcases and had to have the locks cut off and purchase new ones. But I guess that it could have be worse. Could have taken the keys and forgot the bags.

Now only 5 weeks until we leave and I of course am getting excited, and Jim as usual is not. He never get excited or at least he never appears to be. We are going to visit the grandchildren before we leave so had to change the date of the flight from Prince George, but also changed due to the unpredictability of the weather. So will be in Vancouver for two days prior to our leaving for Australia and will be able to get some new photos of the girls. They will be a year old then.

That seem to be all for now - will continue to read the travel books, study the maps and determine just where we will travel once we start out vacation.
