December 20, 2008

Got up early this morning , after a restful day in Hervey Bay. Went last evening for a wonderful dinner at the Harbour Boat Club. On our way to Biloela to visit a cousin. Travelled from Hervey Bay to Gympie, Murgon, Gayndah,Eidsvold, Monto and then to Biloela. This area grown mainly citrus fruit although the season on over and the only fruit we saw on the trees was limes.
The weather turned nasty just after we left Monto and we ran into a storm with torrential rain, lightning and thunder. We finally arrived in Biloela and meet up with Bruce who took us out to dinner at the Anzac Club. Had a great dinner and then spent the rest of the evening talking.

December 21, 2008.

Had breakfast with Bruce and he suggested that we go to Mount Morgan. Mount Morgan is an old gold mining town. The mine has been closed for a few years but as the price of gold in now up they plan to reopen an area of the tailing again. Went on a wonderful tour, very informative.
While there the tour operator suggested that we go to Mount Hay to dig for geodes. On the way there we passed by a mango farm and dropped by to get 4 mangoes , cost $3.00. Will be spoiled, and will not want to buy the tasteless one they sell at home. Spent two hours at Mount Hay digging in the ground and found a few good geodes that we had cut. All in all a very good day. Warm and breezy +30 Tonite we are staying in Rockhampton. Tomorrow we are going to go caving and abseiling.

Have a great time caving Alice, just don't get stuck as I'm sure there's some tight spots! Glad you're enjoying your trip.
